Preselection disappears when something is already selected

Hi all,
in Lists, Tables, Trees, when I have the mouse over an element, a pre-selection on that element is drawn (changing its background color), Ok.

But I've just seen (for example with ComponentExplorer, see screenshot in attach) that any time I press a key (for example <CTRL>, <SHIFT>, <ALT>, or any other key (not only control keys)), that pre-selection (or ghost image or whatever you call it :-) ) disappears (the related event is a KeyPressed).
Note that this happen only if  have already selected something in the list/table/tree.

I don't know if the screenshot will be published by Nabble, sorry, but you can see this behavior simply for example executing ComponentExplorer and do the same steps as me.

Is it by design ?
Because I think it gives to users a little (visual) noise.
For example, in case on multiple selection I keep the <CTRL> key pressed for some second before add/remove other elements to the current selection.

Ok, it's a little thing, but if possible (and if it's NOT by design) I'll try for the 2.0.1 .

The feature you are describing is called the item "highlight". It appears when you mouse over an element in a list, table, etc. and shows you what item will be selected if you click on it. I don't think we intentionally hide the highlight when a key is pressed, but I also don't see this as a major issue. Certainly not worth delaying a release for.

and thanks for the "name" of the feature :-) ...

Yes, I agree that's only a minor issue, but this week I'm already working on the same components of this issue for the fix of https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PIVOT-744 (and a little problem on multiple selection introduced my the fix for the removing of selection with the right mouse click but for this I have already the fix) , so I'll take a look even at this ...

I really think some emphasis should be put on getting 2.0.1 out the door. I'm not able to drive that process, but I'd be happy to test and validate the release if someone else is willing to get it going.

Just created the issue for this:

in attach there you find all (single) patch files required to fix it.
Note that two are complete, while one has an additional feature that could be useful to disable (if not wanted) by a style property ...

Tell me if there are objections, or in a few days I'll commit this stuff ... but on the cycle selection (with the style) suggestions/feedback is appreciated.
